It’s starting to look and feel like Christmas. We had a lovely and relaxing weekend filled with food and drinks. We got to make up for being apart this Christmas and New Year so Christmas came early for us.
We were recommended by friends to try out Yuri on the hills and after a year we decided to check it out. As expected it did not disappoint us. There were so many things offered on the menu and it all looked legit. We ended up with a couple of entrees – edamame with salt and chili flakes and popcorn shrimp. We also had a sashimi platter that consists of oysters, scallops, tuna, king fish, snapper and salmon. You can’t go to a Japanese restaurant and not have unagi so we ordered unagi sushi which was such a pleasure to eat.
We had good weather on Saturday and decided to wonder around Stirling. I love Stirling. It has its own charm about it. Nice town with nothing much to do except for eat and drink but still there is something about Stirling that keeps me drawing me back to it.
On the way home we decided to stop at a winery along Deviation Road. It’s a nice quiet spot so hidden that if you missed the entrance you might as well drive home as there is no way you can make a u-turn along the windy road. We were greeted by friendly staffs and enjoyed a flight of bubbles tasting which later led on to some white and reds. We really enjoyed the Southcote Blanc de Noirs. It was light, refreshing and something you can enjoy the whole day. That was my favourite bottle for the day. And yes we got some for home.
Since it was a lazy weekend, we decided to head out for dinner at our local pub…the duck. It was a long wait for food that night due to private functions but at the end of the night there were two happy people walking out of the pub. Our food were spot on! I had ordered the Saltwater Western Australia Barramundi and he had the Black Angus Scotch Fillet. It was a perfect way to end our relaxing day indulging in good food and drinks but nothing is better than spending your weekend with your loved one.
