I visited Port Douglas 2 months ago. As it was my first trip, I did some research on what to do and where to eat. Obviously the best thing to do is to indulge in a sinful array of seafood. And that was precisely what I did when I got there.
The first thing we had were some prawns in a bucket. Yes I know…how does that sound appetising? I was expecting some fancy name for this but that was what it appeared on the menu. Well after having my first bite of it the name didn’t matter anymore. The prawns were fresh, juicy and sweet. It was a generous serving which was great as we ordered a bucket to share. We did not only have the bucket of prawns for lunch but we had it again each for dinner and a couple of days after!
Another place that I enjoyed was our lunch at The Treehouse Restaurant in Silky Oaks Lodge. The ambience was serene as the restaurant was nestled within the rainforest. The food served wasn’t too bad but being a sweet tooth, the dessert was a clear winner for me.
Trying to be adventurous with food, I agreed to trying some crocodile meat. To my delight it tasted really good. The meat was tender and I could have had another serving if we did not have other dishes.
Vacation without alcohol is not a vacation. There was a good selection of cocktails at Barbosa. We had a couple and some rum too which left us really happy after.
Great view, great food, great company and lots of drinks is what we call a good vacation!
